- Not too long ago, I boot up my amiga 500 (Rev 6a, WB2.1, 2 Megs Fast, 1/2
- meg Chip, AdIDE controller, 40 Meg HD with R/W errors and 4 partitions -
- 2 of which are not mounted as they are clumps of bad blocks) to find my
- 2nd paritition had a funny looking name (non-alpha characters) and that
- when I clicked on the icon, it gave me the old "This Icon has no default
- tool" error message. So, I fired up DiskSalv to rectify the problem, and
- it seems to work. However, when I tried to access the partition, I find
- it's only got 488 Bytes free (odd for a WB2.1 partition, isn't it?) and
- isn't validated. Before all the problems, I had lots of space on that
- partition. I used disksalv once more to validate the partition, but it
- doesn't work, giving me an error messages at the very end saying 'Block
- xxxxxxxxx is out of range : cannot validate'. Now, of course, when I
- boot up, I get the same message, and a cancel or retry will get rid of
- it, even if it won't help the problem. I can still access all files on
- the partition, but that's about it.
-
- Can anyone help??
-
- Thanks
